Commended
by Newsweek, the international magazine, as "one of the world’s greatest
meeting places”, The Irish Village, Garhoud has won legions of regular
customers with its delightful setting, friendly service and superb menu choices.
It has received a total of 67 awards over the years confirming its commitment
to excellent food, beverage and entertainment.
It
was the brainchild of Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai
Duty Free who brought it to life with the gracious support of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed
Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Modelled
on a traditional Irish pub, 'The Irish Village' has become one of the most
popular meeting places in Dubai, evoking memories of home and a first port of
call for many visitors to the emirate. Thoughtfully designed, it was
constructed using materials and craftsmanship imported from the Emerald Isle
which were re-assembled on site, creating an authentic Irish experience in the
heart of Dubai.
To
mark its 10th anniversary in 2007, a life-size bronze sculpture of three
traditional Irish musicians, depicting the rural charm of the Emerald Isle, was
installed in the centre of the Village terrace and officially inaugurated by
the then Prime Minister of Ireland, Taoiseach
Bertie Ahern.
Described
by many as “definitely the best pub in Dubai”, its continued success over the
last two decades, despite growing competition and a rapidly changing cityscape,
has been testament to its quality standards, value-for-money offerings, food
and exceptional service.
It
has also hosted many globally acknowledged entertainers including Sir Bob
Geldof, Sinead O’Connor, Aslan, Mary Black, Brian Kennedy, Madness, Billy
Ocean, UB40, Texas and Boyzone.
The
Irish Village is often packed with families enjoying the outdoor lifestyle in
Dubai. This small piece of Ireland in the heart of Dubai is also a dog-friendly
venue which adds to its lively atmosphere.
